Archie Foundation for Therapeutic Horsemanship (AFTH) provides 8-week therapeutic horsemanship training programs to veterans and their family members at no charge. The programs focus on building horsemanship skills through instruction of new concepts and methods. AFTH's mission is to enhance the quality of life for military veterans with diverse physical and mental challenges through therapeutic horsemanship training programs. The Hoofbeats for Veterans program has multiple levels of horsemanship training, including Equine Facilitated Learning (EFL). Participants attend classes twice a week for education on grooming, riding, barn and horse care, as well as EFL sessions. Since June 2018, AFTH has sponsored over 1800 hours of training. Veterans have participated in horse shows such as the Stars and Stripes Summer Spectacular Equestrians with Disabilities Horse Show, the Chisolm Challenge horse show, Waco Heart Of Texas Veterans horse show, and the National Snaffle Bit World Championship horse show and futurity.
