Starlight Therapeutic Riding

Starlight Therapeutic Riding Center is a nonprofit organization that provides equine-assisted activities and therapies for individuals with physical, cognitive, and emotional challenges. Their goal is to improve the mind, body, and spirit of people living with disabilities through partnership with horses. Starlight offers programs such as Equine Facilitated Learning (EFL) and Therapeutic Riding. EFL is a hands-on program that teaches concepts like personal boundaries, communication, and self-awareness. Therapeutic riding combines mounted and unmounted activities intended for therapeutic outcomes, including improved balance and coordination, increased self-confidence, and a greater feeling of freedom and independence. The organization was founded in 2019 by Chim Williams Welborn, who was inspired by the connection between horses and humans.
